So, armed with my Kitchenaid (best wedding present ever), I put it to the test. Were the fluffy cake layers and crumbly, sugary topping impossible to replicate?
I've personally witnessed how food stylists work miracles for photo shoots, so I didn't expect my cake to be an exact body double of the original. But in terms of taste, I'll give the recipe a big fat A. Speaking of fat, I'm sure it was full of it. I did swap out all-purpose flour for whole wheat, so that made it totally healthy...right?
